Adhesions
An adhesion is scar tissue which connects two parts of tissue which are not normally connected.
Adhesions develop due to the body’s repair mechanisms after infections, trauma, surgery etc.
Ask your doctor after surgeries how to prevent adhesions. Especially abdominal surgeries have a high risk of producing adhesions.
Gentle movement may help to prevent excessive scar tissue and keep scar tissue from limiting future movement. But do not pull or stretch the wound as it heals - it can impede the healing process and may cause excessive scar growth
Surgery may be required to remove adhesions, but it will produce even more of them.
Unless it is an emergency, look for alternative treatments like massage, stretching, movement therapies first.
